Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP), the organizer of Good Design Award, will start “G Exhibition” to introduce the latest Good Design Award entries in Tokyo (Roppongi, Marunouchi, Shibuya) from September 29.
With GOOD DESIGN EXHIBITION 2016 in Roppongi as the main event, G Exhibition consists of sequential exhibits held in three places in Tokyo from September to November. Each event introduces the latest Good Design Award entries with different focus; Good Design Grand Award candidates, juries and Long Life Design Award.

Good Design Award, widely recognized in Japan for 60 years, has celebrated good design in various fields including products, architecture and all kinds of endeavors to enrich life through design. GOOD DESIGN EXHIBITION 2016 is the main event of “G Exhibition” to display all of this year’s awarded designs* .
* Large-size products and architecture will be introduced in description panels.
Good Design Best 100, selected among all the awarded entries as “designs that break new ground for future,” will be gathered for display in Midtown Hall. The best 100, selected from a wide range of fields and including large-scale products such as automobiles, gives the overall view of this year’s entries.
At the special stage in the open ceiling space of Tokyo Midtown will be the live event MEETinG, with Good Design Best 100 awardees giving presentations and talks. Visitors can also enjoy design-themed workshops and opportunities to try out awarded designs. At the special venue on the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie will be “Preventive Design (provisional title)” exhibition which displays design for disaster prevention, safety and security.

Exhibition design by Naomi Hirabayashi and Jo Nagasaka
The key visual for GOOD DESIGN EXHIBITION 2016 is designed by art director and graphic designer Naomi Hirabayashi and design of Tokyo Midtown exhibition space is undertaken by architect and designer Jo Nagasaka. Nagasaka’s original display furniture is characterized by its unique structure and reusable design.
